Decompression Therapy – Is It For Me?

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy is a non-invasive spinal treatment that uses a mechanical traction device to manage back and neck pain. Essentially, this therapy relies on a pulling technique, also known as traction, that acts on the spine to alleviate pressure without resorting to surgical measures. It is used to treat a variety of common causes of back or neck pain, such as a herniated lumbar disc, bulging disc, spinal stenosis, degenerated disc, facet syndrome, or sciatica/leg pain. We consider spinal decompression therapy when a patient presents us with a recent MRI that confirms herniated discs causing nerve pressure. It works particularly well for patients that suffer with herniated discs, chronic back pain and spinal stenosis.

Results of decompression therapy vary depending on the severity of the condition. Obviously the patient is looking for both a reduction of pain and the ability to return to their daily life and activities. We usually have patients feeling better in five or six visits, however, each individual may have different results. Some notice a significant improvement after 20 visits.
